GenBank Nucleotide ID NP_001131031.1; NP_001317418.1; NP_057321.2;
Protein Name Anaphase-promoting complex subunit 5 (APC5) (Cyclosome subunit 5)
Gene Name ANAPC5; APC5
Organism Homo sapiens
NCBI Taxa ID 9606
Functional DescriptionComponent of the anaphase promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C), a cell cycle-regulated E3 ubiquitin ligase that controls progression through mitosis and the G1 phase of the cell cycle. The APC/C complex acts by mediating ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of target proteins: it mainly mediates the formation of 'Lys-11'-linked polyubiquitin chains and, to a lower extent, the formation of 'Lys-48'- and 'Lys-63'-linked polyubiquitin chains.

[Reference]: It evoked the UPR activation leading to the induction of BCL2-interacting mediator of cell death (BIM) by UPR sensors. BIM, in turn, contributed to the execution phase of apoptosis in the activation of ER resident caspase 12 and mobilization of Ca(2+) stores.
